The 2021 Cadillac Blackwing engine is set to be a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that delivers a staggering 668 horsepower and comes with either an eight-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed stick shift, depending on your preferences.
Will the Cadillac Blackwing Models Drive Well?
Both the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing look to defy the stereotype that powerful American cars are all about straight-line speed and suffer through the corners. A sport-tuned suspension and adaptive damping are standard on both Blackwing models, giving you several drive modes to work with depending on the situation. You can give it a soft, comfortable feel by softening the suspension and steering feedback for a gentle Sunday afternoon cruise. But when you want to turn up the wick, the suspension can be stiffened to deliver sharp, responsive handling that lets you feel the road and will make cornering a blast.
What is a Supercharger?
Like a turbocharger, a supercharger forces pressurized air into the combustion chamber of your engine to improve horsepower and torque without burning much extra fuel. However, the way a supercharger delivers its air is much different than a turbo since it runs off the engine crankshaft rather than using exhaust gases to spin up the forced air. This means less lag than a turbo when it comes to delivering power, but it does require some engine power to run, making it a less efficient way to make power than a turbo. Still, for outright performance it is tough to beat the instant delivery of a supercharge, and that’s what the Cadillac Blackwing lineup is all about.

The Cadillac Blackwing lineup of vehicles should be appearing at our dealership in the summer of 2022, with both the CT4-V Blackwing and CT-5 V Blackwing currently nearing the end of their development and slated to begin production later this year. What is the Difference Between the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing?
The only major difference between the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing models will be the respective size of these two sport-luxury sedans. The CT4-V is a more compact four-door sedan, offering lighter weight and more nimble handling, making it more akin to a BMW M3 or Audi S3 in terms of size and performance. Meanwhile, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is a larger and more spacious both inside and out, putting it in the super sedan category alongside the BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG lineup of performance cars.
