When you think about Cadillac, you likely think about impressive luxury and staggering performance in a series of American-made cars and SUVs that are the pinnacle of high-quality motoring. And while these things are remaining in the future of Cadillac models, there is also an immense focus on technology, electric-powered vehicles, and autonomous features that are driving development of a completely new line of Cadillac models.

Where We Are Today

Currently, there are no hybrid or electric vehicles in the Cadillac lineup, and that is something the company has already identified and is working to change in the coming year. However, there are already a series of high-tech features that are helping push Cadillac toward autonomy, starting with the Super Cruise advanced adaptive cruise control system. This system uses both radar and cameras to identify vehicles and road markings on the road ahead of you. It will do the basics, like keep you centered in your lane and keep you a safe distance away from vehicles ahead of you. However, this system also offers a lane tracing function by following the vehicle ahead of you around corners on highways. This means you can simply lock on to the traffic ahead and your Cadillac model will keep you in your lane even as the highway curves ahead of you. Plus, the system uses blind spot monitoring information to allow for hands-free lane changes. Simply flick the turn signal and your Cadillac will check for hazards before moving over one lane with out any further input. This semi-autonomous driving mode is currently available on the Cadillac Escalade and Cadillac XT6, but it is coming to the complete Cadillac lineup by the end of 2022.

Cadillac LYRIQ

The first Cadillac electric vehicle is coming to the lineup in 2022, and you’ll be able to find Cadillac Lyriq models at Andrews Cadillac early in the year. This EV is going to be a stylish and sporty crossover model, giving you the interior space you want from an SUV with a car-like driving experience to appeal to a wide variety of drivers. As a Cadillac, we understand that you have high expectations of any new model that comes to our dealership, and we’re confident that the LYRIQ will deliver. For starters, this EV is expected to have 300 miles of range. This puts it on par with the Mustang MACH-E and well ahead of the luxurious Volvo Recharge luxury crossover when it comes to your longer road trips. You’ll also get all-wheel drive capability and a flurry of advanced technology features. Navigation will include charging stops so you can keep your LYRIQ powered up even on a longer road trip. Electric motors also have a fun-factor thanks to the instant torque. Unlike gasoline powered engines that have to be in a certain powerband to put power to the ground, electric motors deliver full power at any speed. This means that whether you’re getting up to speed on a ramp or taking off when a traffic light turns green, you’ll have the full power of a specially-tuned electric motor pushing you along in your new luxury crossover.
